Car Park Lighting
In order to accommodate as many cars as possible, multi-storey and underground car parks are usually designed to tight dimensions, which often makes them difficult to navigate. Poor visual conditions make this worse still. Car parks generally need lighting every day of the month, in some cases around the clock, which represents a significant cost in operating the building.
There are, however, other ways of reducing energy costs besides simply minimising the lighting. It is particularly worth considering modernisation where artificial lighting is needed for such a high number of operating hours. These are the cases with the shortest payback period, and there is no need to sacrifice, in the name of economy, the very qualities that make a car park well lit. Drivers will use a car park more readily and more regularly if they can find their way easily, if as pedestrians they can quickly locate the routes to the stairs and lifts, if there are no dark, impenetrable areas, and if they feel that they and their belongings are safe.
Besides complete modernisation, we also offer a solution where a full switch to LED technology is not possible and only partial conversion is required. We design the lighting in accordance with the standard in force (EN 12464-1), taking into account the external conditions the luminaires are exposed to in the given environment, the hours when the car park is busy and the quiet periods. On this basis we select from our product range the dust- and moisture-proof — and where necessary vandal-resistant — luminaires with the appropriate IP rating, and where it is justified we can also build motion and occupancy sensors into the system for greater energy savings.
